Technologies to Reduce Scars: Lasers and Radiofrequency

Scars can appear after various skin injuries, procedures, or inflammatory episodes. Some dermatological technologies now make it possible to progressively improve their appearance by stimulating the skin's natural regeneration mechanisms.
These treatments are based mainly on the use of fractional lasers, radiofrequency lasers or skin stimulation technologies. The aim is to reshape the skin and stimulate the production of collagen in order to improve skin texture.
At the Skinpulse Center, several complementary technologies are used in order to adapt the treatment to the type of scar and the quality of the skin.
How do technological treatments for scars work?
The technologies used to reduce scars generally work through three mechanisms:
- stimulation of collagen production
- skin tissue remodeling
- gradual improvement of skin texture
Depending on the depth and age of the scar, different technologies can be used alone or combined.
Fractional ablative lasers
Some laser technologies make it possible to act directly on the surface of the skin in order to stimulate its renewal.
The systems used include:
- Active FX™ and DeepFX™ — Lumenis, fractionated ultrapulsed CO₂ lasers
- DualMode™ — Ethereum Platform (Vydence), 2940 nm fractional ablative Erbium-YAG laser
These lasers create very fine areas of stimulation that trigger a natural skin repair process.
Fractional non-ablative lasers
Other technologies work deep into the skin without removing the surface layer.
Among the technologies used:
- PicoSure™ (Cynosure) with handpiece FOCUS
- PicoWay™ (Candela) With coin Resolve
- GoSmooth™ — Ethereum Platform (Vydence), 1540 nm fractional laser
These technologies stimulate fibroblasts responsible for the production of collagen.
Microsecond Nd: YAG laser
The system LaserGenesis™ — Excel V+ (Cutera) Use a laser Nd:YAG 1064 nm delivered in the form of micro-pulses.
This technology allows gradual stimulation of skin tissue and can contribute to improving the texture of certain scars.
1340nm Nd:YAP laser
The ProDeep™ — Ethereum Platform (Vydence) Use a laser Nd:YAP 1340nm which acts deep in the dermis.
This thermal stimulation promotes the remodeling of collagen and progressively improves skin quality.
Nanofractionated radiofrequency
Some technologies use radio frequency to stimulate the skin.
Among the systems used:
- Viva™ — Venus Concept, Nanofractional™ radiofrequency
- Genius™ — Lutronic, radiofrequency associated with microneedles
These technologies deliver thermal energy directly into the dermis in order to stimulate the natural mechanisms of skin repair.
A personalized approach
Each scar has specific characteristics: depth, age, location or origin.
A prior consultation allows these elements to be analyzed in order to determine the most appropriate technology or the most effective combination of treatments.
