Phototherapy is a dermatological technology that uses controlled ultraviolet radiation to treat certain skin diseases. This technique has been used for many years in dermatology and continues to evolve thanks to increasingly precise equipment.

At the Skinpulse Center, several phototherapy devices make it possible to adapt the treatment according to the area to be treated and the type of skin condition.

What is phototherapy?

Phototherapy involves exposing the skin to medical UV radiation in a controlled environment.

These radiations can:

  • reduce certain skin inflammations
  • slow the excessive proliferation of skin cells
  • stimulate certain skin repair mechanisms

Phototherapy is used in particular for certain dermatological diseases such as psoriasis, vitiligo or certain forms of eczema.

The phototherapy equipment used

PUVA hands/feet PUVA 180/200™ — Waldmann

This device allows a treatment localized in the hands and feet thanks to exposure to UVA.

It is used when skin lesions are limited to palmoplantar areas.

UV 181 BL™ — Waldmann

This device uses Narrow spectrum UVB to treat localized areas.

This specific wavelength is recognized as particularly effective in certain dermatological indications.

UV7002™ — Waldmann

La UV7002™ cabin allows full body exposure.

It is used when skin lesions are extensive and require comprehensive treatment.

ExSys UVB308™ — GME

The 308nm UVB laser allows an extremely targeted treatment.

It is particularly useful when lesions are limited to small areas, as it allows only the affected skin to be treated.

Technology adapted to each situation

The choice of technology depends on several factors:

  • the skin disease concerned
  • The extent of the lesions
  • The patient's skin type
  • the location of the areas to be treated

This is why a prior dermatological consultation is necessary before starting treatment.
